Patricia Maclaughlin

Who among us who have read or seen the movie ‘Sarah Plain And Tall’ can forget the story and the memories it created in us about venturing out into the unknown on the chance of finding a better life? All the story characters feel the same sense of not knowing what their future will bring but each is anticipating that good will come to their lives.

This is a story masterfully told in the simplest yet most revealing way. It is a tender story set in a harsh background. The contrasts both physically and emotionally in the hands of Ms. MacLaughlin earned her the Newbury Medal in 1986. Ms. MacLaughlin wrote 30 books in all. Find her at your library or in your favorite book shop and begin with my favorite, ‘Sarah Plain And Tall’.
